Occupying a superior position in the Baardskeerdersbos area, and with the coast close by, this 2 ha smallholding could be the opportunity you\'ve been waiting for.

Boasting a spacious open plan home with outstanding views, whether it\'s from the lounge, kitchen, study, bathroom, bedrooms or verandah, surrounded by exquisite fynbos, mountain views and ample bird life, this is as close to heaven on earth as you can get. Baardskeerdersbos is first mentioned in writing dating back to 1660: an expedition-team of five men sent by the founder of the Cape Colony, Jan van Riebeeck, reported on the valley and its Khoikhoi-residents. No doubt the little expedition will have spent the night in the open air and will have encountered the small spider-like creatures called “Baardscheerders” (“Beard shavers”) famous for cutting human hair for nest-making purposes. Hence the mouthful that is the name of this village: Baardscheerdersbos (“Beard Shavers Forest”). Today the village is known as Baardskeerdersbos (or more intimately “B’bos”). The fertile Baardskeerdersbos Valley in the heart of the Overberg is one of the most undisturbed and original areas of this region. It is a rural drive of 25 km from Gansbaai en-route to the most southern point of the African continent, Cape Agulhas. Meandering past streams and through a hilly and constantly changing landscape, the drive to B’bos is in itself a treat. Apart from the traditional cattle farms and horse-steads, bright-green vineyards and multicoloured flower-farms, mark the landscape of the Baardskeerdersbos Valley. B’bos is also home to several pristine and rare fynbos habitats of the original “Cape Floral Kingdom”. Gansbaai came into being in the early 1880’s as a result of the great fishing opportunities it presented. It got its name from the freshwater fountain in the harbour which was frequented by the “kolgans” thus Gansbaai or Bay of Geese. Gansbaai is the name for the area which encompasses the towns of De Kelders, Franskraal, Kleinbaai, Blompark, Masakhane, Pearly Beach and Baardskeerdersbos. This is an area ruled by the ocean and blessed with floral abundance. Towering over Walker Bay, the cliffs of De Kelders are known for the world’s best land-based whale watching. Around Dyer Island in Shark Alley adventure lovers can enjoy magical encounters with the Great White Shark hence the “nickname” Great White Shark Capital of the World. Birders, hikers and horse-riders know the unspoilt fynbos-covered hinterland of Gansbaai as one of the main sanctuaries of localised and endemic plant-species on earth and a refuge for hundreds of bird-species. Long stretches of empty sand-beaches especially in Pearly Beach are ideal for uplifting walks. Magnificent sunsets have rounded off every day since earliest modern man first sat in the Klipgat Cave 90’000 years ago. Visitors to the area are amazed at the amount of activities to partake in yet the area has remained unspoilt and is an ideal spot for recharging ones batteries. An area to explore full of secret wonders.
