SEA FRONT SMALLHOLDING OFFERING MAGNIFICENT SEA VIEWS IN RURAL AREA.

This large small holding of 4.9816 ha is located in Birkenhead, near the famous light house of Gansbaai. This property offers you magnificent views of the ocean as it is a sea front property. Birkenhead area is about 6km outside of Gansbaai. There are no municipal services (water and electricity) in place. There is a very old house on the property. Between Gansbaai and Franskraal, the flat, rocky peninsula of Danger Point extends for about 8 kilometres into the sea. The many reefs and sunken rocks along its shoreline make it one of the most dangerous places in the world for ships coming too close to shore. To make things worse, a hidden rock lurks just below the surface off the Point, it was on this rock that the legendary HMS Birkenhead met its doom on the fateful night of 26 February 1852, with the loss of 443 lives. After further losses of more than 20 ships, a lighthouse came into operation in 1895. The notorious Birkenhead Rock can be seen at low tide, just a few kilometres off Danger Point. Tours to the lighthouse and the Birkenhead Memorial can be arranged at request. Gansbaai came into being in the early 1880’s as a result of the great fishing opportunities it presented. It got its name from the freshwater fountain in the harbour which was frequented by the “kolgans” thus Gansbaai or Bay of Geese. Gansbaai is the name for the area which encompasses the towns of De Kelders, Perlemoenbaai, Franskraal, Klipfonteyn, Kleinbaai, Blompark, Masakhane, Pearly Beach and Baardskeerdersbos. This is an area ruled by the ocean and blessed with floral abundance. Towering over Walker Bay, the cliffs of De Kelders are known for the world’s best land-based whale watching. Around Dyer Island in Shark Alley adventure lovers can enjoy magical encounters with the Great White Shark hence the “nickname” Great White Shark Capital of the World. Birders, hikers and horse-riders know the unspoilt fynbos-covered hinterland of Gansbaai as one of the main sanctuaries of localised and endemic plant-species on earth and a refuge for hundreds of bird-species. Long stretches of empty sand-beaches especially in Pearly Beach are ideal for uplifting walks. Magnificent sunsets have rounded off every day since earliest modern man first sat in the Klipgat Cave 90’000 years ago. Visitors to the area are amazed at the amount of activities to partake in yet the area has remained unspoilt and is an ideal spot for recharging ones batteries. An area to explore full of secret wonders.
